چکیده

Abstract The procedure presented in this work aims at providing a framework for studying settlement of ballast zones with stiffness variation the railway track support. proposed results from expanding an existing infinite periodic model to account variations foundation. Ballast is simulated via linear lattice, whose dynamic response differs that continuum. expanded composed three regions: left region, which semi-infinite and periodic; mid-region, finite length where properties foundation can change; right also differ those region. equations motion mid-region are written directly time domain, rail being described by elements. On other hand, regions treated semi-analytically frequency afterwards their responses converted resulting convolution integrals prescribed boundaries simulate non-reflective boundaries. final only contains degrees freedom corresponding (which be as short region present), leads faster calculations than if were placed further away dissipate undesired reflections. method cast all elements assumed behave linearly. In future, will incorporate non-linear behaviour ballast. validated means simple examples, applied real scenario culvert crosses track. As presented, used study dynamics transitions zones, mitigation measures, infer about indicators like force transmitted energy dissipated, might useful assess development

Analysis of the Influence of Cracked Sleepers under Static Loading on Ballasted Railway Tracks

The principal causes of cracking in prestressed concrete sleepers are the dynamic loads induced by track irregularities and imperfections in the wheel-rail contact and the in-phase and out-of-phase track resonances. The most affected points are the mid-span and rail-seat sections of the sleepers. Central and rail-seat crack detection require visual inspections, as legislation establishes, and i...

Acceleration-Based Quality Assessment of Railway Tracks using a 2D simulation model and recorded track data

Car body acceleration is an important factor affecting track safety and ride comfort, which are two primary aspects of railway systems. Though track level is an important source of wagon body acceleration, no quantitative relation between them is available and the aim of this paper is to propose a method to address this issue. To do so, car body acceleration is determined using a 10 DOF simulat...

Investigation of the Influences of Track Superstructure Parameters on Ballasted Railway Track Design

The main design criteria of ballasted railway tracks include rail deflections, rail bending stresses, rail wheel contact stresses, sleeper bending moments and ballast sleeper contact pressures. Numerous criteria have been defined for the design of ballasted railway tracks owing to the various mechanical properties of track components and their complex interaction. Therefore, railway track desig...

A dynamic lattice model for heterogeneous materials

In this paper, the mechanical behavior of three-phase inhomogeneous materials is modeled using the meso-scale model with lattice beams for static and dynamic analyses. The Timoshenko beam theory is applied instead of the classical Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the mechanical properties of lattice beam connection are derived based on the continuum medium using the non-local continuum theory. T...

A Novel Algorithm for Railway Tracks Detection using Satellite Imagery

Image processing applications have their wide ranged importance in today's world. Railway track detection is one of the hot research areas in visioning systems. An efficient algorithm and high quality images of railway tracks are required for accomplishing the desired task. Images produced by Google maps and Google earth are generally not so extraordinary. Their degraded quality affects th...
